A Hot Seattle June
You may have heard that it’s been a June for the heat record books in Seattle. The last weekend of June we took a short trip over to Poulsbo and spent two nights there on the boat. The sail over was excellent and we were almost able to set it and make it all the way to Madison Bay without tacking.
The Marina was pretty full. There was a big Ericsson boat meetup going on and they had most of the slips reserved. Luckily, Poulsbo Marina is OK with you tying up in a somewhat smaller slip than your boat length and we found one to pull in to.
First day we went to Valholl Brewery for a beer and then to Tizley’s for dinner. Tizley’s had air conditioning but we ate on the patio over the main street since there was a decent breeze coming off the marina
Saturday was over 90 degrees in Poulsbo and we walked 2.6 miles to Sound Brewing for beer. It was very warm. Walking back felt faster, though still 2.6 miles, maybe slightly less uphill. At dinner I got very hot and had to step outside as the place we were at had a central kitchen and poor circulation.
Sunday we started back early and could see storm clouds and rain in the distance. Made for refreshingly cool ride home. We had a picnic lunch under the dodger in the cockpit.
It was a good way to deal with the heat, if not actually escape it.
