Djinn Photos The motor mount was replaced in 2007 with a lightweight racing mount. You can’t buy these mounts anymore. The keel has a full cover for road travel. This is a substantial, professional product designed by North. The cheap diver! Part of our weekly racing ritual. This cheap diver is still like new after 10 years! Thank you Mike and Joy for an excellent product. Under the stink, an anchor, with chain and line rode. The sink holding tank has been removed as part of a weight saving effort. The boat is class legal, which corrector weights install (the boat is light). Sliding hatches. Winche handles, spinnaker tweekers, genoa cars, spinnaker blocks, downhaul, etc. All of the racing gear. The bilge has had all the vermiculite remote professionally by CSR. The keel boats were inspected and then the keel sump was rebuilt to add a lifting bar. This allows the lifting strap to be installed without using a cow hitch than shortens the lifting strap and can reduce the strength of the lifting strap. Sail inventory includes a bard new Jib (North Sails). a club genoa (2017, Ballard Sails). New (2018 Main with only 1/2 season on it, Ballard sails), Regatta Genoa (2016, North Sails). North Sails Spinnaker (3 seasons). And a variety of older club sails. All racing sails are measure and class legal. The chain plates have class legal backing plates for strength. One of my projects is to replace the chain plates in the next couple of years. The tiller is from the boat “Magic Hat” Brian Nagle’s boat came to an unfortunate end, but we consider it an honor to be keeping part of his boat alive and using it actively. Our lifting strap (new in 2009) has been augmented with a custom measured set of lines, specifically measured for Djinn, which makes safely lifting the boat with a crane a snap. We’ve used this setup dozens of times, safely and securely. It takes roughly 5 minutes to setup the boat for lifting with this system. The boat has a brand new polyurethane paint job from 2017. The work was done by professionals in Anacortes. Very shiny and fast. There’s no name on the boat or other marks. We keep the registrations numbers on the boom. The boat has a brand new rudder from Waterline systems from 2017. The rudder is fantastic! Djinn’s bottom is Balltoplate. it’s been an incredibly resilient bottom paint. We burnish it with bronze wool ever spring before re-launching her. The boat gets cleaned with the Cheap Diver ever week in the water. We re-do the Balltoplate occasionally on the keel. By the way, the keel has been templated by Michael Johnson’s standards (this is the fat keel template). All of the work, fairing, painting was done by the professionals at CSR. The boat has been measured and has a valid J/24 Certificate. The trailer has a ladder in the front for easy access to the boat when she’s on the trailer. Djinn has a extremely light gin pole designed by Keith Whittemore. The pole is aluminum and cut to the exact size for J24, the lines are dyneema. This pole makes standing the mast a breeze. If you’ve ever used an old mast or some other heavy piece of equipment you will be delighted with this engineered gin pole. Also, here you can see part of the trailer. This Triad trailer was purchased from Pete Sauer in 2012. You can see the spare tire. The trailer is top notch, dual axel, disc brakes, LED lights. If you’ve ever used an old mast or some other heavy piece of equipment you will be delighted with this engineered gin pole. The mast is original 1983, but I upgraded the spreader thru-bar in 2010. This is optimized for the J/24 race tuning and provides a stiff platform for the spreaders. The spreaders are new from 2010 as well. The work was done by CSR. Mast down, ready for travel. We upgrade the winches to Harken 32s in 2012 (they don’t sell these winches anymore) We used the taller stands we could find, but for a further optimization a taller stand would give slightly more advantage to the trimmer. We take the winch apart twice a year for maintenance, pal inspection. These are great winches. The interior compartments are in good shape. The wood needs oiling, but the sliders and hatches are in good shape. The front hatch has a leak. We remade the hatchboards for the bow in 2016. There’s some water damage to the far forward hatch, it needs to be repaired. This is sort of Pasargada adjacent, but taking off on Pasargada will require a new home for Djinn. Windward sheeting on the traveller, of course. We prefer Spinlock blocks for easy sheeting. The mast down and windex taken off. Djinn has all new standing rigging (made by Chris Tutmark, August 2018). Djinn has been hauled every winter since 2010 and stored for the winter. She hoists level with the motor and rudder on and nothing stored in the bow. Djinn on her way to PSSC 2019 (October) Djinn is currently hanging out in Renton for the Winter.
